چکیده

In the present study, complete description of development and metamorphosis an endemic frog Rhacophorus malabaricus, Jerdon, 1870, is documented in its natural habitat from Southern part Western Ghats (Peppara Wildlife Sanctuary, India). A brief illustration each Gosner stage (fertilized egg to metamorphosed froglet) given based on direct monitoring characterisation morphological morphometric variations. The identity tadpoles was confirmed by gene sequencing. Fertilisation early (cleavage, blastulation gastrulation neurulation) take place inside foam at 21.4 ± 0.1°C. motile begins 3rd day, after hatching then eventually dropping into water body. Hind limbs start differentiation first 15th day. larva attains maximum size (TL 48.70 0.22 mm) stages 42. measurements are significantly correlated with especially 26 39. Oral disc features described LTRF 7(3-7)/3 KRF 2:5+5/3. morphometrical data R. malabaricus compared other known Kuhl & Van Hasselt, 1822 members. study shows that relative lengths TL, SVL, BH TAL significant characters for taxonomy. Morphological (limb bud development, pigmentation, oral features, etc.) potentially useful tadpole anuran taxonomy or later.

Integrative Taxonomic Approach for Describing a New Cryptic Species of Bush Frog (Raorchestes: Anura: Rhacophoridae) from the Western Ghats, India

A new cryptic species of bush frog Raorchestes honnametti sp. nov. is described from the south-eastern part of the Western Ghats, India. This newly described species belongs to the Charius clade and is morphologically similar to other clade members--R. charius and R. griet. Therefore, an integrative taxonomic approach based on molecular and bioacoustic analysis along with morphology was used to...

A new species of Rhacophorus from eastern Thailand (Anura: Rhacophoridae).

A new tree frog of the genus Rhacophorus is described on the basis of specimens collected from Kalasin and Roi Et Provinces, eastern Thailand. It can be distinguished from all other congeners by the combination of: moderate body size (about 38 mm in males and 44 mm in females); brownish dorsum with irregular, dark marking; third finger webbed broadly to base of disk or less on outer side, and f...

Two novel genera and one new species of treefrog (Anura: Rhacophoridae) highlight cryptic diversity in the Western Ghats of India.

Amphibian diversity in the Western Ghats-Sri Lanka biodiversity hotspot is extremely high, especially for such a geographically restricted area. Frogs in particular dominate these assemblages, and the family Rhacophoridae is chief among these, with hundreds of endemic species. These taxa continue to be described at a rapid pace, and several groups have recently been found to represent unique ev...

Taiwanascus samuelsii sp. nov., an addition to Niessliaceae from the Western Ghats, Kerala, India

A new species of Taiwanascus, T. samuelsii, was collected from southern parts of Western Ghats on dead branches of Anacardium occidentale and is described. The new cleistothecial ascomycete is different from the type and only species in Taiwanascus, T. tetrasporus, in cleistothecial size, setae, and ascospore characteristics.
